Resolution No 845 of September 26, 2013

Reference

The resolution on introducing amendments to Government Resolution No 240 of April 7, 2008 On the Procedure to Provide Technical Rehabilitation Equipment to People with Disabilities and Prosthetics and Prosthetic-Orthopaedic Products to Specific Categories of Veterans was drafted by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection in execution of Government Instruction No DM-P12-36pr of June 25, 2013.

Annually, over 500 disabled athletes from Russian national teams take part in competitions and sustained training sessions outside the regions of their residence.

The current procedure for providing technical rehabilitation equipment allows compensation to be requested for technical rehabilitation equipment which has been purchased independently only in the region in which the athlete lives.

The newly signed resolution stipulates a new provision for the relevant procedure with regard to Paralympic and Deaflympic athletes, members of national teams. From now on, athletes involved in official sports events have the right to request compensation for technical rehabilitation equipment purchased independently at agencies which provide this kind of equipment for athletes and which are located in the Russian region hosting the sports event.

The decisions which have been adopted will make it possible to guarantee the right of athletes with disabilities to receive compensation in regions hosting official sports events.
