The 59th Session of the Commission on the status of women was held in New York from 9 to 20 March 2015 at United Nations Headquarters.

The Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Alexey Vovchenko.

He made a speech during ministerial "round table" on the topic «Making the economy work for women and girls». In his speech he underlined that ensuring gender equality and status of women and girls are the priorities of the international community and Russia reaffirms its support for the work of the UN Commission on the Status of Women as the key forum for constructive dialogue between all the regional groups of states on key aspects of the gender agenda.
