First Deputy Minister Alexey Vovchenko headed the interminesterial Russian delegation during Consideration of the eighth periodic report of the Russian Federation under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women

27 October 2015 took place the consideration of the 8th periodic report submitted by the Russian Federation under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women in the frame of 62nd Session of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) (26 October – 20 November 2015 Geneva, Switzerland).

Russian delegation was headed by Mr. Alexey Vovchenko, First Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation. The delegation comprised representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Interior, the Office of the Prosecutor General etc.

Consideration of the 8th periodic report  was held in the format of dialogue between the Russian delegation and CEDAW Experts during which the head of the Russian delegation as well as another representatives of the delegation gave the detailed answers to the experts' questions on the following issues: non-discrimination, sex stereotypes, and sex trafficking; women's rights in the public sphere with an emphasis on political life, representation, and rights to nationality; economic and social rights of women, education, employment, and health, special protections for rural women and the problems they face; women's right to equality in marriage and family life along with the right to equality before the law etc.
